Kameryn Truman International Dance Medalist!

The Metro Edge FSC is proud to announce that Kameryn Truman passed her final International Dance on Saturday, June 27th with Andrew Beck.   Kameryn shares this achievement with few skaters, last season only 10 skaters in USFS became International Ice Dancing Medalists.

Kam began Ice Dancing at age 10 in 2004, passing her first 3 dances and preliminary dance test on July 24, 2004, one month later she passed the next 3 dances and her pre-bronze dance test on August 28, 2004 and she has not slowed down since!  On March 24, 2007 she achieved Gold Medalist status and now in just under five years she has passed all 32 dances, including 9 international dances!

Kameryn has been coached by Bonnie and Andy Stroup and Susie Smith.  She has also had an opportunity to train and test several dances with Massimo Scali the Italian Ice Dance National Champion under the coaching guidance of Pasquale Camerlengo.

Congratulations Kameryn, the Metro Edge FSC is very proud of you!

Ali Kitchen is Recognized as the Mid-Missouri Sloan Clinic Female Athlete of the Year!

Ali Kitchen is in the news again!  Ali was recognized this week as the Mid-Missouri Sloan Clinic Female Athlete of the Year and was presented a $1000 scholarship.  This program recognizes student athletes throughout the year for their positive contributions.  The "Student Athlete of the Week" is designed to recognize those young men and women who epitomize what the definition of student athlete is. He or she may not be the best or most recognized athlete on the team or in the sport but is a great example of someone who has balance between academics and athletics.  The athletes must be a High School Senior and playing a varsity level high school sport with a GPA of 2.5 or higher (Ali's is just under 4.0!).  All the Athlete's of the Week are then eligible to receive the Athlete of the Year recognition, this is then determined by voting on-line.

Ali would like to thank all the club members for their support, and has sent this personal note, "Thank you to everyone who voted for me, enabling me to become eligible for the Athlete of the Year scholarship.  Your generosity at this time, and throughout the years I've been a part of the Metro Edge Figure Skating Club, is unparalleled and deeply appreciated."

You can watch the scholarship presentation broadcast by clicking here:  KRCG Channel 13 Broadcast.

Congratulations Ali from the Metro Edge FSC!

Abbey Friedmann Performs in Annie at the Muny!

skating friends at munyannie at munyAbigail Friedmann performed as Kate in the Muny production of Annie!  This is Abbey's second summer as a member of Muny Kids touring company.  Abbey just completed 3rd grade at St. Catherine Laboure where she was part of the children's choir.  She skated on the Synergy Preliminary team last season and will again skate for Synergy this coming season.  Abbey has been dancing for 6 years at Gerri Stretz Professional Dance Center, and loves hanging out with her friends.  She was part of the 90 years of Muny Magic in 2008 and played the role of ZuZu in A Wonderful Life this past December.  Abbey thanks her parents for all their support and Paul Blake for giving her the opportunity to be in Annie.  Abbey enjoyed seeing her skating friends at the Muny...thanks to all the Metro Edge families for their support!
